Just turn up
BIRD'S WOOD is a 4-acre woodland permaculture site. Your hosts, Jez & Helen have been promoting permaculture at our Green Doors open days for several years. This year, Jez will give a talk/tour at 3 each day (but don't expect it to finish by 4 !!)
Jez & Helen say: "Each year, more of our plans and ideas have organically evolved, and come to fruition. An occasional but regular visitor to our site recently commented ' .. now I can see the method in the madness.' If you have visited us before, we invite you back to check our progress.
We are especially interested in carbon capture, building soil fertility, and experimenting with no-dig techniques.
As usual, there will be home-made scones and our blackberry jam to sample, all washed down with a carbon-capture cuppa whilst browsing our permaculture reference books.
We want to be a shining example of low-impact living, though we are not yet able to live at Bird's Wood full time.
So come and look at Bird's Wood if you are interested in any of the following: Bees (in polystyrene hives), compost toilets, bio-char, working with reclaimed materials, permaculture zoning, raised beds (on tarmac), lazy beds (hugelkultur), or forest gardening. On Sunday 18th there will be a display of solar cookers, too, and if the weather is suitable, some solar cooked food.
